'6Cs in Action: Celebrating Excellence’ your chance to nominate nurses, midwives and care staff

Has your nurse, midwife or carer gone the extra mile?

Do you want to share how they cared for you?

You can put them forward for our monthly ‘6Cs in Action: Celebrating Excellence’ competition.

We are looking for individuals or teams who live the 6Cs: care, compassion, competence, communication, courage and commitment.

Please send a few lines about the individual or team, where they work, why you are nominating them, how they fit the 6Cs and any other information to england.sixcslive@nhs.net

Please include as much information as possible e.g. name of the person you would like to nominate, the name of organisation e.g. hospital, GP surgery, maternity unit, care home and any other relevant information.

We can take care of the rest, and you could make someone’s day!

Latest News

The ‘Story of the Month’ competition held by 6Cs Live! and Nursing Times has been renamed as ‘6Cs in Action: Celebrating Excellence’ to mark the first anniversary since the competition was launched.

Suggestions for a new name came in from across the country. We had so many great suggestions for new names that we combined two. The winners are Jean Rogers, Education Facilitator, Stockport NHS Foundation Trust and Rebecca Stoneham, Patient Experience Lead in the Nursing Directorate, Kent and Medway Area Team.

‘6Cs in Action: Celebrating Excellence’ reflects the aims of 6Cs Live! in sharing good news, highlighting achievements, celebrating success and spreading examples of good practice in improving the quality of care and the experience of patients.

‘Story of the Month’ uncovered many great examples around the country and from a range of clinical practices - mental health, community health, elderly care, to name but a few. All of our previous winner stories can be found on the 6Cs Live! Communications Hub.

We are confident that ‘6Cs in Action: Celebrating Excellence’ will help us share even more inspirational examples.

As part of the new competition we welcome two new judges to the judging panel: Ashley Brooks, National Patient Champion, and Julie Sheen, Mental Health Staff Nurse and Care Maker from September 2014.

One of the differences between ‘Story of the Month’ and its successor ‘6Cs in Action: Celebrating Excellence’ is that the new competition is also open for patients, families and carers to nominate nurses, midwives and health care assistants who have gone the extra mile. We are producing some information which will explain to patients how they can nominate staff. Our new judging panel will contact staff who have been nominated and go through further details to turn the nomination into a competition entry.

We hope you will be inspired to share how the 6Cs are changing your work and patients’ experiences, and we look forward to seeing your entries.
